Worship in Eastertide:

Signs of New Life
8:30 and 11:00 on Sunday Mornings

May brings many voices and much music to our worship services. Bring friend and enjoy the promise of new life this May!

Sunday, May 5 -         Signs of New Life and Hope
The Sunday after Easter we welcome our High School Seniors (Allie Norris, E.J. Bolleter, Delaney Covelli) in leadership as they share "Signs of New Life and Hope." The High School Seniors will use words from the gospel )Luke 24:36-41, 45) to "open our eyes" (vs. 45) to their understandings of faith and new life. We also welcome Allie as our guest Youth Musician.

Sunday, May 12 -         The River of Life
On this day traditionally set-aside to honor mothers (and others) who give us life, we'll give thanks for all the ways God the Creator gives us life through all creation. The scripture story comes from John's "Revelation" in which the prophet sees the river of life and a tree with leaves for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:1-5) It's a wonderful image for the day. We'll also celebrate the Baptism of Lily Perkins Shepherd, daughter of Megan and Pete and sister of Sam.

Sunday, May 19 -        Tongues of Fire and Seeds of Life
(It's Pentecost-so wear RED!)

Fifty days after the first Easter, God's spirit was poured out on people of all backgrounds so they could "dream dreams and see visions." This Sunday in the 11:00 service, the children of the church share their dreams and visions as they also share the Parables of the Sower and the Mustard Seed. The Children's Choir sings, along with the Sanctuary Choir. At 8:30, we'll offer a quieter Communion service with the same theme and special music by the Early Morning Choir.

Sunday, May 26 -         Hope Does Not Disappoint
Memorial Day Sunday

In Paul's Letter to the Romans, the apostle offers his understanding of suffering-that it "produces endurance and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint." (Romans 5:1-5). So does that mean God wants us to suffer to give us endurance and foster hope? Or is there another way to understand how God works in such times? It's a challenging topic, to be sure, but a good one on this day we remember those who have given their lives for others.

Flowers to Remember or Honor

Each Sunday there is an opportunity to remember or honor loved ones or a special occasion by offering flowers for the Sanctuary Table. Please sign up on the Community Room calendar. A donation of approximately $40-50 is suggested.  Please contact Caroline Burnett (cbburnett@mac.com or 820-0902) with questions or information.  Peace and love to each of you.

WE GO OUT IN PEACE

Go out into the world in peace
Have courage.
Hold on to what is good.
Return no one evil for evil.
Strengthen the fainthearted.
Support the weak.
Help the suffering.
Honor all persons.
Love and serve the Lord,
rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit,
And may the love of God,
    the light of Christ
        and the power and
communion of that Spirit
        be with us all.
Go in peace, Amen.
