Blessed . . . To Be a Blessing
Seeing the crowd, Jesus asked his disciples, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.” Then he ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves, and after blessing them and giving thanks he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them to the crowd. (Mark 8:5-6)
Jesus blessed seven loaves and with them, the disciples fed thousands of people. The miracle of the multiplication of loaves and fishes may be hard to believe. But that same miracle is reenacted week after week at United Church.
Individually and as a congregation, we are blessed with an abundance of God’s gifts, starting with the gift of life itself. When we share those blessings with others, our commitments of time and money are multiplied in powerful ways through United’s ministries: lives are blessed through the beauty of music, hope restored through prayer and care, children are nurtured, youth are helped along life’s way, adults grow in their relationship with God and one another, older adults are upheld, the hungry are fed, the homeless sheltered, creation cared for. All of that—and so much more—are made possible through our giving to the church. We’re “blessed . . .to be a blessing.”
Of course, it was Jesus who blessed and then multiplied the loaves and fishes. But before that miracle could take place, men and women had to step forward in faith to offer those loaves and fishes. Blessed with God’s gifts, they offered those blessings to others.
We invite you to make a monetary gift or pledge to United so that the miracle of multiplication can continue. Working together, we can bless the lives of others, far and near. There are many ways to offer such support:
- Make a one-time gift by clicking here. You can designate your gift for a specific program or for United’s overall ministry.
- Commit to a yearly pledge to United. Our annual Stewardship Campaign is held each fall, when the majority of United members and friends make their commitment to the church for the coming year. But you can pledge your support any time! Please call the church office (505-988-3295) or email us through this website for more information and a pledge card.
- United’s Endowment, supported by bequests and planned giving, helps ensure that the congregation will remain strong and viable in the years to come. Click here for more information on the Endowment Fund.
Thank you for your stewardship, sharing and giving!
